Known for its luxurious and prestigious reputation, Aspen has 4 mountains, which offers diverse terrain for all skill levels. It generally has one of the longest ski seasons with its abundant snowfall. It is home to the Winter X Games. The village is a bustling social hub with lively après-ski culture, from upscale cocktail bars to casual après spots.
Steamboat is famously known for its "Champagne Powder", a light, dry, and fluffy snow. It offers abundant glade skiing (tree skiing) and long, uninterrupted runs, some of which extend for more than three miles in length. It is a charming, laid-back town with a unique Western heritage, known for its cowboy culture and rustic, yet upscale, ambiance.
Beaver Creek is family-oriented, offering a range of activities and amenities designed to make the experience enjoyable for all ages. It's abundance of smooth groomed runs makes for an enjoyable skiing experience, especially for beginners and intermediates. Compared to some other larger resorts, Beaver Creek has a quieter, more intimate feel.
Vail is one of the largest ski resorts in the US, with its 7 back bowls and 3 distinct terrain areas. Vail’s après-ski scene is legendary. It has two villages- Vail Village has a European flair, with Alpine-style architecture and a vibrant atmosphere. Lionshead Village offers more upscale amenities, is slightly quieter, and more relaxed.
Winter Park is one of the closest major ski resorts from Denver. It is easily accessible for those who do not wish to drive, as there is an express Amtrak train direct from Denver. From the top of its peaks, enjoy the panoramic views of the Continental Divide. The village is casual, laid back, and is one of the more affordable major ski resorts to stay in.
Breckenridge has 5 peaks that caters to all skill levels, including several slopes specifically designed for kids and beginners. It also offers activities beyond skiing, including ice skating, tubing, snowmobiling, and sleigh rides. It also has a Recreation Center with an indoor swimming pool, climbing wall, and basketball courts. Breckenridge has a vibrant, welcoming, and lively atmosphere that blends a classic mountain town feel with modern amenities, making it a favorite amongst locals and tourists alike!
Ski Cooper offers an affordable, less crowded ski experience with a relaxed atmosphere, making it ideal for beginners and intermediates. Take in the stunning snow-covered mountains aboard the Leadville Winter Express train, or try your hand at dogsledding, where you can play with the huskies! For family fun, enjoy ice skating, snow tubing, or explore the National Mining Museum. For a thrill, soar on a zipline at 12,800 feet for an unforgettable adrenaline rush!
Enjoy your stay at a spa resort where you can spend your time soaking in one of three famous hot springs in Glenwood Springs. Perhaps, enjoy a hot chocolate next to a cozy fireplace or a romantic wine tasting at one of the wineries. For those who still want to indulge in winter sports activities, Sunlight Mountain is a small, independent, and affordable resort.
Steamboat Springs has two major hot springs, which are more tranquil and less commercialized than those in Glenwood Springs. Steamboat Springs has a large world-renowned ski resort, but the village offers a more laid-back, small-town vibe, with a Western charm.
